Senoia , Ga ( Walkers!) The Walking Dead

Updated: Oct 25, 2021

If you are a Walking Dead fan you might know that Georgia is the back drop for TWD. It was actually filmed in Ga. The town of Senoia, is probably the most popular filming site of them all. Senoia is located 45 minutes south of Atlanta. It was established in 1860 , the land was purchased by a Reverend. Cotton and Peaches where the agricultural products shipped from this area. There are still plenty of farms, now they have lots of honey farms and other fruits. The town was named after a captain's wife from the civil war. This information comes for the history of Senoia.

There are so many iconic scenes filmed right here in this little town. It is a very charming little town. Driving into the town you are greeted by the famous train tracks. "The Road to Terminus" scene. Stepping out of the car and into the town is like being transported right into the a movie. There are many shops, that line the main road. The shops are instantly recognizable as the back drop of many scenes in TWD. Including Woodbury town,

Morgan and the walker proof town. Just outside the town on the other side of the tracks... Alexandra, the town, metal walls , gate and all.

This town is so much fun for a TWD fan. It is a small town and you can spend a few hours here. There is a TWD walking tour with a Rick look-a-like. They walk you through the town and tell you where different scenes were filmed. It is a really cool tour. The tour is out of TWD themed museum and gift shop, The Georgia Tour Shop is were it is located. Across the street is The Woodbury Shops. Yes, this was the scene for the Woodbury town in season 3. There are some iconic props from the movies here. Including Daryl's vest, Rick's hat and many more things. Plenty of photo opportunities here. There is a photography studio downstairs and you can take pictures with walkers, battle scenes and an Abe look-a-like. There is so many TWD themed souvenirs. These two shops are dedicated to TWD. Stranger Things, was also filmed in Georgia and there is props in the Georgia Tour Company. Gabriel's church is also in this town. It is really small. Looks so much bigger on the show. True fans will definitely recognize key sites in the show. I suggest taking one of the tours to really get the full experience and geek out TWD style.

There are several restaurants including one owned by Norman Reedus. I did not have the chance to eat there, I will have to go back to try the food out. There is a BBQ place and several other restaurants lining the main street. We didn't eat there. If you read my trip planning, on a trip we usually plan on a big breakfast and then snack around lunch because we typically aren't hungry. The aroma from the roads smelled fabulous, I'm sure the food would have been fantastic. We did partake in the snacks. I mentioned above Senoia has farms and they make preservatives and honey. WOW! We definitely spent more than we normally do on things. We bought the town honey and jams, snacked around the town.

The vintage shops and boutiques are so well placed. Each store has its own unique character. They all carry different items. Looking for unique clothing? You can find it here. There are several vintage shops, that sell unique items from yesterday's past. There is a cool farmer's vintage store, they sell metal items. Little vintage metal measuring cups, metal cooking utensil and miniature farming things. Each one of the shops are local mom and pop shops. No big box stores or big chain food shops here. There are a few stores that sell only local grown and made products. The jams and honey are just so good. Fresh and delicious. Good news is they ship also. Unhinged Lifestyle Boutique has a nice collection of women's apparel. My wife liked this store a lot.

There are several hotels in the area if you want to stay and do the whole a long weekend. My favorite Holiday Inn Express is the area. I did not stay in the area, we stayed an hour north of here and visited for a few hours. I will definitely return again in hopes they turn Alexandria into a tourist attraction.

About Me

As a boy , I often wondered what it would be like to go far away. To see the world and go new places. I moved around a lot growing up but never went on vacations. When I was old enough to work, the first thing I wanted to do was travel. At 18, I saved up some money and booked my first trip. I have been traveling ever since.

Fast forward my wife, and now our children love to go on new adventures. My mission for this website is to share everyone , that trips and getting away doesn't mean going into debt and living above your means. We are a simple family , with limited means, that prioritize traveling and family time over keeping up with "The Jones" or buying stuff. Buying Stuff and The Jones life won't make you happy. Family trips, will give you memories to cherish for years to come.

My family and I love to get in the car and get lost, there so much to see in this world. We love to get out  there and see something new, try somewhere new, eat something new. I hope that I can impart a few of my travel hacks on you. Keep in mind I am not perfect, neither is this website. If you see a typo, laugh. Take my bad jokes as your own. Feel free to ask me questions. Send me a message. Don't be afraid of going to new places. Get out there and make new memories with your family.
